About Us

We are a Young Shed. The last three years spent creating a 300m2 space, ideal for our purposes, from a dilapidated stable block devoid of windows, doors, power, water and even floors. The conversion work, all done by Shedders, came in at just 20% of the quoted £250K.

Give any lonely man a few companions, a handful of tools and a task - then all things become possible; including health and happiness, fun and fulfilment.

The Shed is now complete, with 3 phase power, a Blacksmith’s Forge, raised horticulture beds and a huge Greenhouse. We socialise in an 80m2 open plan commercial kitchen, dining area and lounge with a large patio with views to the Welsh Hills.

Our membership roll is now over 120 and there’s a constant flow of visitors. We are open 6, sometimes 7 days a week mostly undertaking projects for Community Groups and Charities.

We have created a great space, and so we make it available to …. a luncheon club for pensioners affected by dementia, a Men’s Cancer Support group operated by the hospital, a weekly horticulture group funded by Lingen Davies and on Thursday evenings Shropshire Woodcarvers.

Visiting healthcare workers check blood pressure and hopefully soon cholesterol and PSA.

Outside this routine we’ve somehow tackled big projects that would stretch any professional organisation. Before taking them on we decide if they meet our FACT criteria in that they are Fun, Achievable, Charitable and Transformative. We also love Win, Win, Wins where Shedders, Community and Environment all benefit.
