Renovation and relocation of Percy Thrower’s Greenhouse
He was also Superintendent Gardener in Shrewsbury’s riverside centrepiece The Quarry Park. In recent years his 60 year old and 50m2 greenhouse had become an eyesore, redundant and a target for vandals. The Town Council had offered it to many groups, without any takers, so the Town Clerk was very surprised when we took the relocate, repair and reuse task on. We laid footings adjacent to our Shed, built a wall to sit the huge framework on, then reconstructed and re-glazed the framework. Water and electricity were connected, and the final touches of building the paths and staging are now done.
